How Maine taxes your paycheck
Maine uses tax brackets, so each rate applies only to the part of your taxable income inside that bracket. 2026 brackets:
| Rate | Single | Married filing jointly |
|---|---|---|
| 5.8% | $0 to $27,399 | $0 to $54,849 |
| 6.75% | $27,399 to $64,849 | $54,849 to $129,749 |
| 7.15% | Over $64,849 | Over $129,749 |
Before the brackets apply:
- Standard deduction: $8,350 single, $16,700 married filing jointly.
- Personal exemption: $5,300 per filer.
- Dependent tax credit: $305 each.
Federal taxes on every paycheck
